Shop Design Concept
This world’s first iGUANEYE Aoyama Main Store was created by enlarging the three-dimensional spatial idea with flexible mindset using algorithm based on the innovative product concept.
It has a merchandise sale function, reconstruct the relationship of humans and spaces, and propose the‘katachi’of the innovative space. It is“the space has a design featuring a bridge with technology suggesting primal memory in human body and future possibility.” (quoted from the press release)
But at this point, what is‘algorithm’?
According to the explanation by Prof. Takeaki Uno at National Institute of Informatics,
“‘Algorithm’is a computational‘calculation method’, and I could also say that it is a‘way’of doing it in a broad sense. The study of algorithm is to find out a more effective‘way’. In other words, you can perform computation faster with a better‘way’.”
In general, we translate our image into two-dimensional numerical values on plan or elevation to prepare design documents for interior space designing. And constructor company carry out its construction work to convert the image into three dimensions based on them.
This time, I tried to realize my space image of the iGUANEYE store in a solid body more directly.
So, it could perhaps be said that I turned the image of primal memory in my body into reality, or analyzed my thoughts by using computer system, algorithm.
To transform an imaginative space into reality, we have been replacing its long, wide and tall in simple figures and making it real with abstract expression based on the concept of modernism. But we have no choice but to depend on computer about computing curves or three-dimensional curves in a short time. We can realize complex forms by using algorithm as calculation method. It is close but not the same as CG rendering, because it is also useful computer graphics in structural mechanics as three-dimensional conformation.
The reason why I dared to use this way is because the motif of iGUANEYE is primal memory in human body, and I wanted to convey the message more strongly.
My space image inspired from this iGUANEYE might be a shelter for our ancestors, a cave. It shouldn’t be by no means a precise circle tent. There might be a rough rock skin on the surface of the cave. I thought that it is possible to realize and abstract the space image by using the latest technology, prepare a habitat for iGUANEYE FS, and take over Mr. Olivier Taco and his idea to the future.
Where should we stand on?
On the bridge between primal human memory and human possibility in future.
It’s to make a discovery and share it with others, if possible, something beautiful!
