The idea behind Blown is exploring reflection and refraction in glass, to design a textured volume that breaks up and reflects light. The lamp is a mouth-blown glass pendant light with a variegated lozenged pattern which encloses the light source. It comes in two versions: translucent with a silver lustre, and a sandblasted matte white. Both versions include a powder-coated die-cast aluminium suspension and fabric chord.The texture of the glass is rendered carefully with 3d CAD in order to control the inflation of each bubble, achieving fine control of how the form would reflect the light at different angles. Blown experiments with the manufacturing process, combining industrial manufacture and hand-crafted finishing.
