This drab and dreary home was completely made over – and the results are astonishing! Invent Design took to the home in South Korea, with their sketchpads and architectural prowess, and fashioned the design for the renovation.

When implemented, the new design renders the home barely recognisable. From dated and ghastly to fresh, bright, and contemporary – the improvement is quite the feat. Now, come for a tour with us as we take a look at some before and after shots that have more differences than similarities – you're bound to be impressed!

Exterior: before

The brick exterior has an intricate portico structure rife with brick setbacks and details. But, combined with the mottled brick, it is a little too much of everything.

A more refined aesthetic would do the home wonders and pull it out of it's naff and dated state!

Exterior: After

Refined aesthetic it is! The exterior has been rationalised and a fresh lick of paint gives the brick one solid, block colour.

The smokey charcoal colour complements the warm timber used for the new deck. A wonderful outdoor space has been created: one that is fresh and contemporary, a far cry from its previous state.

Interior: before

The before shot of the exterior was nothing compared to this before shot of the interior. Dated is the operative word – and your grandmother's lace curtains kind of dated.

The space feels tight and truncated, lacking any sense of flow or connection. Let's see how the designers have remedied the dire state of the interior…

Interior: After 1

A new floor surface has been laid, new wallpaper applied to the walls, new light fixtures fitted and new furniture arranged.

The cramped and cluttered interior is no more, instead, in its place is an open and contemporary space for modern living.

Interior: After 2

The kitchen also opts for a more rational design.

Clean lines abound and a largely black and white colour palette is adhered to; a couple of exceptions are found in the timber bench surface and a feature colour that is applied to the wall.

Interior: after 3

Large openings have been fashioned between the adjacent spaces to create a sense of flow and connection. All in all, the new design is a huge improvement and we're sure the residents think so too!
